Museums & Tours

The Museums of Leadville Passport is the best bargain for seeing the following museums: Healy House and Dexter Cabin; Heritage Museum; National Mining Hall of Fame and Matchless Mine; House with the Eye; Temple Israel; Tabor Home and Tabor Opera House. The Passport is for sale at the Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce, any of the participating museums or the train depot. It can be used from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. For more information, stop by the chamber at 809 Harrison Ave. The passport will save you money on admissions and offers discounts at museum gift shops. In addition to saving money on admission, the passport provides the convenience of purchasing only one admission ticket and discounts at selected museum gift shops. Plan to spend several days to see all the museums...it will be well worth your time!

In addition to these museums, you can also take an underground tour of the Hopemore Mine, take a self-guided walking tour of Leadville where there are 70 square blocks included in the National Historic Landmark District or  drive the Route of the Silver Kings through the 20-square-mile historic mining district surrounding Leadville. There are 12 stops on the tour, including mines, power plants, ghost towns and mining camps.

A leisurely scenic tour aboard the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad is another option for sightseeing. The 2 and ½ hour ride departs twice daily from Memorial Day Weekend until early October.
